Life's a beach

This week I was joined by Paul and Julie Goodall.  The south-easterly trade winds kicked in, which made for great beach fishing. The beaches produced some good size barra, tarpon, blue salmon and plenty of queenfish. While fishing the beaches, we were lucky enough to encounter 2 mantarays, feeding on jelly prawns, hard against the beach.  The mantarays are fish magnets, and for over an hour we casted to the same 2 mantarays catching queenfish, golden trevally, brassy trevally and cobia from waters around  them!!!!.

pre season fishing

The last few weeks I have been enjoying some personal fishing time around Weipa with Ross Fenn, my partner Nicole, and her mother Julie.  There have been some good size barra caught up the creeks with Julie catching the 79cm model below. There have also been good numbers of king salmon and fingermarks along the flats.

Just so you know where we're talking about!!
